based on images taken of two childhood friends, "Mango Pikin" participates in the display of familial love. Everyone has their own connection to mango season, and nothing beats sharing a mango with someone you love.
Part of Solas's painting practice is achieving texture as well as time and geographic context through the use of newspaper in close proximity to the time of the painting being created. Legible or not it still adds to the piece as you almost feel like you're with the sisters in the tree harvesting their mangoes
